Any and all dancers wishing to become a HDCo. member must attend a formal audition unless an invitation is extended. Additional Audition Information ►
HDCo. members must attend all designated classes, rehearsals, performances and special workshops for their respective divisions.
Puntuality is mandatory for all classes, rehearsals, workshops and performances. This includes being in the required dress code and ready to start all classes when the instructor's music begins.
Regular and consistent attendace at all designated classes is vital for proper training and development of the dancer's technical and performance skills. HDCo. members are responsible for consulting with the Director/instructors regarding class attendance records. Dancers are responsible for making up all missed classes.
If the missed class is a Performance Class (PC), the Company member is responsible for learning all missed choreography prior to returning to the next class. The requirement must be met, but the dancer may still lose the ability to perform in the number being taught/rehearsed.
All HDCo. members are required to perform with their Division over the calendar year. All HDCo. members are strongly encouraged to perform in the annual Honolulu Dance Studio Concert which may be scheduled at any date throughout the year. Discretion of the Director will determine cast selection for any and all performance numbers.
Company status and/or advancement (to an upper division) is solely the decision of the Director. The amount of time spent in any division or level does not warrant promotion to a new level. The technical merits of the dancer is imperative for their safety; the Director will always take this into consideration when ascertaining the proper Company level for each dancer. Skill and performance quality are only a fraction of the HDCo. standards. Charactor also weighs heavily in all promotions. |
